I'm Cheating...

No, I'm not cheating on Lurch!
Are you crazy?

I'm cheating on my "bidness pardner"...
both of them!
Yes, it is true...
I have two "bidness pardners"!

This is how it all started...

Long, long ago...

On a planet far, far away...

She was my student. I was her teacher and coach...no, not athletic coach...look at me! I was her STAGE COACH...theatre teacher...stage coach...get it? And I was her Prose coach...for Texas University Interscholastic League competitions...and she was wonderful...still is! Rhonda...my acting and writing partner...is shown here receiving her medal for winning the UIL STATE prose contest...which is a big deal! Rhonda's state title and her fabulous acting abilities guaranteed her scholarship to the University of Texas. And I, the dedicated Texas Tech alum, am proud to award her the state medal...I knew all along that she would turn into a Red Raider fan...guns up in the air...a faithful road warrior following the team to the bitter, bitter end!

Here we are...twenty something years later! We are pictured at Austin's Hyde Park Theatre in rehearsal for our short original play, "The Tangueray Prayer Circle". We were participating in the FronteraFest play festival in Austin. The only things that have changed...besides our age...and our looks...and a whole novel of bizarre stories from over the years...was that there is no longer a teacher and student...now there are acting and writing partners....the way it should be! Yes, that neat Jesus picture is our favorite prop ever! It hangs in my dining room...and not in the prop room...when not being used! The cool pink lamp is never far from my side either! The following year, for FronteraFest, we expanded "The Tanqueray Prayer Circle" into a full length play...and we had a stage full of wonderful, vintage, chicken-fried props!

Rhonda and I in costume...and in character... as Ethyl and Imogene...our favorite original characters! We have traveled across Texas entertaining with our original scripts! Let me tell you...these two girls are a hoot! Don't you think it would be fun if Ethyl and Imogene made a surprise appearance at Warrenton/Round Top?
What?...
My acting/writing partner...
And my Moonlight Hollow pardner...
Know each other...
And are okay with all of this?
Well, that takes the fun out of it!

"The fringe theater event of the Southwest!" -Austin American Statesman

"That's right: it's time to heat up your winter nights again, with the 16th (ALMOST LEGAL) season of FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre. The Short Fringe, the Long Fringe, BYOV, or Mi Casa--as always and ever, FronteraFest is five weeks of alternative, offbeat, new, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre. Too bad there's no actual way to expect the unexpected, because that is your only hope.
FronteraFest is produced in collaboration with Austin Script Works, a group dedicated to supporting emerging playwrights and developing new dramatic works."
