Willie Nelson, The Texas Troubadour Muse...

Moonlight Hollow Muses are proud to announce the latest Muse to our blog...
Willie Nelson!
No, he doesn't know anything about it...
but does that matter?
You know he's a Muse...and he's a Texan...
so he belongs here!
Really, nothing says Texas more than Willie Nelson. His voice...his words...his smoking on the White House roof...his ecological concerns...his support of farmers...he speaks for us all! My older son is the ultimate Willie fan and he swears that Willie is his biological father...I wish I had a story to interject here...but I don't...damn it.
If you are a Willie fan, you know that he turned 75 in April...and along with the birthday, came rumors of a new Willie quote. According to his buddy...and almost Texas governor....Kinky Friedman, Willie said the following on his 75th:
"I have outlived my pecker!"
Now, as funny as that quote is....and you know it is...Willie has reported that he was not talking about his pecker....he was talking about Kinky Friedman's pecker! Whichever....whatever....what a quote! What a man! What a legend!
So, in honor of Willie Nelson's 75th birthday...and in memory of peckers everywhere...Willie will now have a place of honor on our blog. On the sidebar, you will see The Muses, The Monkey Muse and The Texas Troubadour Muse. Each week, we will feature a quote from Willie or about Willie.
Got a good Willie Nelson quote or want to share a Willie Nelson story? If you do, please share it with a comment!
(Would love to give credit to photographer, but could not find his/her name through research.)

Willie and Kinky are 2 Texas treasures. Apologize for nothing and live life the way you want to. I'm "crazy" for Willie. Debbie

Okay...I am going to "brag" here a bit! :) Years ago I was asked to make Willie a hat band to wear...it was done in an American beaded flag with a beaded Texan flag and then joined by silver stars. I will see if I can find a pic of it...

I only met him once and that was in a old run down hole-in-the-wall Tex Mex restaurant on the Pedernales River. Him & Merle Haggard were there eating tacos. hehehe...didn't go up to him though..just smiled and said "hi". Then we all sat down & ate our tacos. (The place had all of his records & awards posted all over the place.)

That was and is about as close to the legend I have ever gotten....xo...deb

That's a great photo of Willie. In it he looks like a wise old cowboy from the late 1800's. Love it!
