The Smallest of Tragedies Are Often The Largest...

Today is Day Six of
Thirty Days of Photography II.

Today's photo topic: TRAGEDY

His name was Devin Davis. He was two years old. His father had returned from military service and was unable to find a job in his home state of Virginia. A military buddy in Texas offered to share his home with Devin's family and help Devin's father find a job.

Devin and his family had been here a week when it happened.

Devin's mother had put him and his sister down for a nap. The mother fell asleep too. When she woke up twenty minutes later, Devin was nowhere to be found.

Forty cadaver dogs and a team of brave volunteers looked for Devin for five days. Armed guards kept a watchful vigil for the alligators which call this swampy land home.  Many local prayers were said for this precious two year old redhead. My prayers were among those.

They found him on the fifth day....floating in a swampy pond no more than 100 yards from the home.

It was the worst of tragedies.

Oh, that's such a downer. I'd say you aptly captured the theme of tragedy. Now I need to go find a box of Kleenex.

More than aptly captured the theme of tragedy, I'd say. I'm with Noname in looking for that box.

Oh so sad. Children who are lost must certainly get their wings.

This is the sort of tragedy that goes way beyond tears. It makes me physically sick. Very effective post.
