Last night, after his whimpering to come back inside the house had stopped, I tiptoed out to the backyard to make sure Lurch had finally fallen asleep. He was curled up on the chaise lounge like a good boy. The mosquitoes were swarming and the heat and humidity of the night were so oppressive, I found myself feeling sorry for him. So I turned the night light on for Lurch.
