A Special Remembrance...

My daughter-in-law, Amber,
had flown to spend Thanksgiving
with her grandfather
who was in the last stages
of his illness.
After several special days
with her grandfather,
she flew home to have
Thanksgiving dinner with us.
However, that dinner never happened
as she received the phone call informing her
that her grandfather had passed away.
Amber was very fortunate to have
a grandfather who loved her enough
to change her entire life...
and her grandfather was very fortunate
to have a granddaughter who
cared enough to walk with him
to the very end.

Life works in strange ways at times. I think Amber's grandpa hung on long enough to see her one last time. What an awesome man and Amber looks beautiful in that picture. Take care.

How lucky for her to have had the opportunity to spend some time in the last days of her grandfather's life. I wish I had had that time with my father before he passed away.
