An Act of Love...

Tardy!

You know the origin of the word tardy?
It is from the Latin word, tardus,
which means
"slow, sluggish, dull or stupid".
Great!
Just great!

So how about the prefix RE ?
Know that origin?
It is also from Latin
and means
"again and again".

That is what I am...
TARDY AGAIN AND AGAIN!

So I guess that means
that you can call me
RETARDUS!
Which is what a lot of people call me,
by the way!

Now, if you are a retardus,
or are from a long line of retarduses,
please don't take offense!

I'm just saying.

Since it is Thursday already
and just two days until Saturday,
I figured I better get my
retardus butt in gear!

So here is my entry
for LAST Saturday...
sigh.

It is a themed writing meme.
Each Saturday, Ms. Matlock will give
a writing prompt.
Your assignment...
if you choose to accept it...
is to write a 100 word story.
Yes, 100 words or less...
not including the "prompt words".
Oh, and the prompt words can
be used anywhere in your story!

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
The writing prompt is good for the entire week,
so you can join in at any time!

THIS WEEK'S PROMPT:

That's why it meant so much.

So here is my contribution

_________________________________________________________

It was an act of love.

He pulled the white sheets off my shoulders. His hand moved down my arm until it entwined itself with mine.

“Is this the way you want it?” he asked softly.

Pure love existed in that moment. I had one foot in reality and the other in heaven.

“I want you to do it now,” I whispered.

He didn’t hesitate. His body moved next to mine as he covered me with warm kisses.

As I snuggled into the crook of his arm, he reached down and unplugged my ventilator.

It was an act of love. That’s why it meant so much.

Oh my goodness, this sent shivers down my spine. It's so sad.

Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

Well, gotta go cry now.

hugs

I loved it! And I didn't see it as sad at all, it was just the final loving deed he could do.

Of course, if the next paragraph included him winking at the nurse, or calling the lawyer about the reading of the will and the big inheritance, THEN it would achieve evil status.

Malisa, you aren't late at all.

You are, however, amazing.

What a beautiful, tender use of the prompt.

I really loved this little story.

Thank you for sharing it.
