Life in the Fast Lane...

If you have ever watched
The Real Housewives of Atlanta,
then you know Kim Zolciak
and her famous song
"Don't Be Tardy for the Party".

Yeah...
it's like Masterpiece Theatre...
only different.

Real different.

Anyway, I wanted to celebrate the fact
that I am NOT tardy to the party
this week!
Oooo, Oooo!

If you have seen
Real Housewives of Atlanta,
you might be surprised,
like I was,
to find out there are actually
lyrics to the song!

Who'd a thunk?

I figured all that lip syncing and editing
was just a bunch of sounds put together,
but NO!
There are lyrics!
Kim Zolciak can't sing,
but there are lyrics!
Look...

Don't be tardy for the party. Don't be tardy for the party.
Don't be tardy for the party. Don't be tardy for the party.
Hurry up baby don't be late. I'll meet you at the place.
I've been waiting for this day. This weekend let's celebrate.
Lookin' like a covergirl. Covered in diamonds and pearls.
Take the Benz out for a swirl. Drop that top yeah it's my world.
Forget about work and the stress of the week.
Party all night and we won't go to sleep.
We own the club oh yeah we own the life and I am not leaving 'till I see daylight.
Don't be tardy for the party. Oooo, ooooo.
Don't be tardy for the party. Oooooo, Ooooo.
Don't be tardy for the party. Oooo, oooo. Don't be tardy for the party.
I'll be feelin' good by nine. After my third glass of wine.
On the dance floor lookin' fine. All the boys tryin' to get in line.
Headed back to VIP. So tight that I can't breathe.
I look good in this heat. Sweat drippin' all over me.
Ooooo, ooooo.
Don't be tardy, tardy, tardy.
Celebrate…let's celebrate. Don't be tardy, tardy, tardy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah it's my world. Don't be tardy, tardy, tardy. Ooooo, oooo.
Don't be tardy, tardy, tardy. Let's celebrate.
Ooooo, ooooo.

Impressed, aren't you?
Me too.

So did you get the point?
I'm NOT tardy!
Woo Hoo!

It is a themed writing meme.
Each Saturday, Ms. Matlock will give
a writing prompt.
Your assignment...
if you choose to accept it...
is to write a 100 word story.
Yes, 100 words or less...
not including the "prompt words".
Oh, and the prompt words can
be used anywhere in your story!

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
The writing prompt is good for the entire week,
so you can join in at any time!

THIS WEEK'S PROMPT:

Objects in the rear view mirror are
closer than they appear.

So here is my contribution

_________________________________________________________

Fence posts were my companions on this journey. Cows were my tour guides.

Life in the fast lane in the Texas Panhandle.

I had to get there quicker than the others. I needed to prove myself.

Wow, there goes another cow!

What was that? Imagine that rusty old pickup going by faster than me!

Farmhouse. Barn. Wagon. Horse. Farmer. Object after object passing in front of my eyes.

In hindsight, maybe I was a little too eager. But there aren’t many women who are storm chasers.

It was my first tornado. I didn’t know that objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear.

Who said pigs can't fly?

A grat creative turn...a tornado in the mirror! And wherever tornados are, they are always closer than I want them to be! Just imagine one in the rearview mirror!

Really creative. Loved it!

LOL, reminds me of the movie Twister. Great take on the prompt.

You weren't tardy to the Centus party, but your character was tardy to the storm chasin' party...step on it!

Great job!

I've heard of the show but I haven't seen it. I just can't get into all these reality TV shows unless it's HGTV's design star. Anyway, thanks for stopping by the other day. hope you are having a good weekend.

Wonderful! The story was creative and, having grown up in the midwest in tornado alley, very believable as well.

I like the spin you put on this. Made me think of that movie "Twister" when the cow goes flying by!

Cows, barns, wagons, horses, farmers and flying pigs! Made me homesick.
Oh my...

Haha, what a fun one this week :)

Alice in Wonderland meets Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!
Did you happen to see a witch flying by as well?
Great story!!!

This is a great use of the prompt! Loved this, you captured the feelings of driving through the panhandle really well. And the last line was priceless. Kat

" I needed to prove myself." That may be the most important sentence in your post. No matter what's in the mirror, it's always closer than we think. Thanks for making ME think!

Alas, I was tardy to the party this week! Hope you will come by and visit anyway. This was a really great Centus, girlfriend! I enjoyed your imagery and humor immensely. Very well done!

This was so creative and had me guessing what was going on til the end. Good job!

And oh how I wish I didn't know what you were talking about when you mentioned the Tardy for the Party song.

I love the different styles, makes these Saturday Centus' fun to read.. ;-)

(I'm scared to death of tornados, so it would be in the rear view mirror that I saw them (too) as I was fleeing toward safety).

You nailed this puppy right to the wall. Loved the lightning speed of the imagery. Felt like I was right in that vehicle.

I love the heroine of this story.

And heroine she must be to be a storm chaser! Love that show. Always think they are crazy.

Love the way you used this prompt. Obviously, you are only crazy creative.

Really neat!

The imagery was astonishing.
