Oddities...

Obsessed...
I am.
Are you?
The new Discovery Channel series,
Oddities,
has me totally hooked.

Have you been watching?
BEWARE!
It's addicting!

Where else have you seen a
lobster claw bigger than your
own hand?

The show is filmed in Manhattan's
Obscura Antiques and Oddities.

Poor Lurch.
It is inevitable that he is going
to have to take me there now!

Want to read about the program
or check out more pictures?
Check HERE.

Oh, gosh,
my fingers are itchin'
to pick up some things!

One of the most fun things about
the show is watching the people
who shop in this unique store.

Some of the characters in
Nuuwwww York City make
Texas junkers look tame!

Now, if you will excuse me...
I'm gonna watch some recorded episodes.

Wish you could watch too?

At least you can watch
this short video!

Malisa, my dear sister from another mother, have I ever told you that it is my life's honest dream to own a shop exactly like this one? It is, and I saw this show for the first time last weekend. Amy Sedaris picked up that lobster claw for $75, which I thought was a very reasonable price. How does one get into this business, I wonder.

Oh, Mike! Can we be bidness partners? Can we, can we. please? I know...I couldn't believe she bought that sucker for 75 bucks! How to get into the bidness? Just come to Texas Antique Week and load up the minivan!

It's seriously possible? I'm not kidding about this being my life's dream. You can ask my wife or anybody who knows me even a little bit. I've been raving for decades about wanting to own a junk shop. Nobody understood me, but this is exactly what I had in mind. I love curios and oddities, and an old mysterious things. I desperately want one of those old fortune telling games from the penny arcades, for example. I lay (lie?) awake at night dreaming about it, when most men are dreaming about...well, nevermind, that's not important here.

I just have one question. When you say it's inevitable that Lurch has to take you there now...do you mean to shop...or to reside as a display?
Happy New Year!

I love shops like this. There was one in Carmel and a boyfriend and I wandered in. They had the most horrid weird Chinese Nuptial Bed. I really wanted to buy it. But I think it cost about $10,000 and smelled very funny. A little creepy but what a conversation piece.
