Day 45...The Day Of Love!

I'll never forget the day.
I was a high school English teacher
and it was Valentine's Day.
I walked into my room and there it was...
right on my desk...
a handmade wooden plaque...
carved and stained and sanded
with love by a very proud student!
He was sitting at his desk beaming...
anxious for me to see his gift...
hopeful that I would love it.
Love it I did.

That wooden plaque,
which had been a wood shop project,
was his Valentine's Day gift to me.

I held it up for all the class to see.
The students' laughter quieted quickly
as I bragged, praised and said words of thanks.
The student artist sat straighter in his seat...
a wide smile on his face...
pride oozing from every pore.

Yes, I hung that plaque
behind my desk for all to see.
I still think of it often.
Carved in wood
were these special words:

HAPPY VD

So in the spirit of the day...
Happy Valentine's Day!

I would like to dedicate this post
to the man I fell in love with
many years ago.

It was that twinkle in his eyes...
that smile...

that 6'5" body
that got my attention!

His smile made my heart
skip a beat...
it still does!

Yes, this is the man
I fell in love with
so many years ago!

And this is the man
I love today!
The man who raised
our sons with so much love...
and then those beautiful
grand kids came along!

I love him today
every bit as much
as I did the day I fell
in love with him!

Happy Valentine's Day, Lurch!

And so our journey begins tomorrow.
Yesterday was the first year anniversary
of Lurch's heart bypass.
Tomorrow we start our next step
of the journey.
Pre-op procedures tomorrow...
spine surgery at 8 am on Wednesday.
Thanks for travelling this journey with us.
Please keep Lurch in your prayers.
Most of you who know Lurch
have only known him sick
and in pain.
I can't wait for you all
to get to know the real Lurch!

If you are participating in
One World One Heart,
don't forget that midnight tonight
is the deadline for entering my giveaway!

All I can say, and I can alway say alot is that your post is truly "beautiful" and heartfelt. Soulmates are rare, so you have to know, as I always tell you, "don't worry cause every little thing is gonna be alright"! I love the pix of Madi and Tango.Beautiful! And to the above peckerhead "Anonymous", get a life and find a better way to "advertise" your crap! Happy Valentine's day to you and yours!

People search their whole lives and never find what you have or realize it if they do. Girl, you may be the naughtiest woman I have ever met, but I know you are all talk and your heart belongs to this bear of a man. Do you have any idea how special you are?
I'll keep you and Lurch in my prayers...y'all never leave my thoughts.
