Day 74...Life In Lubbock...

"Life in Lubbock, Texas,
taught me two things:
One is that God loves you and
you are going to burn in hell.
The other is that sex is the most awful,
filthy thing on earth and you should
save it for someone you love."
--Butch Hancock--

Day 69...Taking A Bow

Can you believe that it is
Day 69...
and I'm not being clever?
Well, believe it.

I'm bowing out one more day.
Please excuse me.

I am exhausted physically...
mentally...
emotionally.

Guess it finally caught
up with me.

We just got home
night before last.
We have been in transitional
mode at our younger son's home
since being released from the hospital.
Now, there is so much to catch up on.
I will eventually catch up with
your wonderful posts...
I promise!

Just one more day...
On a REALLY bright note...
I went to pick up a month's
worth of mail today...
and I had some beautimous
gifts from some super friends!

Day 62...Every Picture Tells A Story

I love photos that tell stories.

This photo taken on a
Louisiana street corner
in the 40's makes my
imagination run wild!
The lady crossing the street...
what is her story?
Is she a secretary
taking a break?
Is she just leaving the man
on the corner after a romantic
rendezvous at a downtown hotel?
Is she a housewife
with a shopping list in hand?

The man on the corner...
what is his story?
Is he wanting her to turn around
and look at him just once more?
Is he paranoid because a
photographer is snapping his picture?
Does he see his wife crossing the street
and unknowingly passing his lover?

The man in the wheelchair...
what is his story?
Is he just returning from the
hospital with his belongings in his hands?
In the days before handicap access,
does he have someone with him to
help him move around the city?
Is that a hat in his hand and is he
begging to exist on the street?

The two women who are walking
and chatting...
what is their story?
Are they talking about a man?
Are they heading to the Vogue
Shop for their annual sale?
Are they in the city on a girls' day out?

The woman waiting on the corner
who is looking at the camera...
what is her story?
Is she waiting for her tardy
husband to pick her up?
What is the mystery purchase in
that shopping bag?
Why is she the only person with
an umbrella? Is it to protect from the rain
or the sun?

The woman and little girl...
what is their story?
Is the woman a nurse or a mom
with a "fashionable" hat?
Is the little girl asking the woman
if they can stop for an ice cream?
Is the parcel in the little girl's hands
a special gift for her father?
(Do you remember when they
wrapped packages like that? Sigh.)

The woman in the store door...
what is her story?
Is she late and going to miss her bus?
Had she just rushed into the store
to use the pay phone to call
her husband to tell him
that she was leaving him?
Did she just have lunch at
the Woolworth's counter?

Every picture tells a story.
What is your story?

Day 61...Wacky Wednesday, The Never-Ending Story...

It is Wednesday...
and I am feeling wacky...
and have a cool vintage photo...
so...

Let's write the...
Never-Ending Story!

Directions/Instructions/How To:

1. I will post a picture and then begin a story
with 3 to 6 sentences...

2. Then I will stop in MID-SENTENCE...

3. The next person picks up (in MID-SENTENCE)
where the last comment left off and will then
add 3 to 6 sentences to continue the story...

4. And then he/she/it will stop in MID-SENTENCE.

5. Don't end the story...
it is a never-ending story!

6. You may post as many comments as you want
to continue the story!

Let's Write!
It all started innocently enough. Buster's wife was always asking him to move the dress form around in her antique store. Buster found himself dressing her, undressing her and hauling her around in his pick-up truck. Before he knew it, Buster discovered he had feelings for her. Yes, Buster was in...

Day 60...The More Things Change...

The more things change...
the more they stay the same.

I love this old European photo.
Timeless, isn't it?
That could be a photo
from a current photo shoot!

What year do you think this was?
1920's?
1930's?
1940's?

Painted white furniture has come
full circle, hasn't it?

Wish I had that mirror!

Day 58...Thanks For Playing!

Thanks for playing in the
"We Are Home" Giveaway!
As promised,
participating names were placed
in a hospital urinal
for Lurch to draw.

Here is Lurch's hand...
here is the urinal.

Looks like Lurch's hand
will not fit in the urinal!

Lurch gets some kitchen "tweezers"
to reach the winning name...
until our son told us to quit
using his kitchen utensils in the urinal!

So Lurch took the names out
and shuffled them again...
then placed them back in
the urinal!

Lurch got creative and used
purple straws to pick the winning name!

Oh, look!
The winner is:

Congratulations!
Please email me with your

Your copy of
Flea Market Style is ready

going to check out

I love making new friends!

Day 57...The Lurch Parade!

Yes, it is true.
Houston held a parade today...
for Lurch and me!

No, I'm not kidding!

All the revelers were dressed in
their finest sequins and lame!

Why did they have a parade
in our honor?

They were celebrating that we
finally got to have a shower!

They carried banners that said:
MALISA WASHED HER HAIR!

It was marvelous!
There was ticker tape...
confetti...
glitter...
and mini bottles of shampoo
flying through the air!

Parade participants were
throwing bars of soap
from the floats!

Women were flashing their bare chests
and screaming:
THROW ME SOME DOVE, MISTER!

It was fantabulous!

Ah, yes...
it is so good to be home.

Don't forget that I am having
a celebratory giveaway.
The prize: a copy of
Flea Market Style.

Yep, all you have to do to enter
is leave the words
"GIMME THAT"
in your comment!

Lurch will be drawing names
from a urinal tomorrow at noon.
You heard me!
Nothing should surprise
you anymore!

After all,
how many people do you know
who have parades in their honor?
