Day 75...The Show Must Go On!

"It's no longer a question
of staying healthy.
It's a question of finding
an illness you like."
--Jackie Mason--

Yes, it's true.
Lurch's last performance at St. Luke's Hospital
was such a hit, they have extended show dates!
They sent a limo (ambulance) so the star
could travel in style!
Lurch's new run began Wednesday.
I think it is fair to say that he captured the attention
of the entire medical staff of the CCU.

Reviews have praised Lurch for the following:
-stabilized blood pressure
-good spirits
-endurance
-charming wife

Producers agree there will be no cancellation
of the show until:
-heart rate improves
-kidneys function
-wife pulls her hair out

The production company would like to give
a standing ovation to Sue at
for her promotion of this performance.

Stay tuned for updates on show highlights...
and please remember that prayer
contributions will gladly be accepted!

Day 74...Life In Lubbock...

"Life in Lubbock, Texas,
taught me two things:
One is that God loves you and
you are going to burn in hell.
The other is that sex is the most awful,
filthy thing on earth and you should
save it for someone you love."
--Butch Hancock--

Day 72...Surprises Galore!

I am doing my
HAPPY DANCE!
After a really really
tough month,
I returned home to some
fantabulous goodies from
from very special friends!

Actually, I received this sparkly
gift from LuLu before Lurch went
to the hospital. I just didn't have time
to post a photo and say "thank you"!
So now is the time!
Thank you so much, Ms. LuLu Redstar,
junkster extraordinaire, rebel jewelry artist,
chicken farmer and writer of marvelous "fiction"!

Surely you are a follower of LuLu, right?
If not, go check out the
Divine Ms. LuLu Redstar HERE.

Thank you, my funny friend, LuLu!

One of the packages awaiting my return
contained this awesome shadow box!
Isn't it beautiful?
This shadow box is adorning my mantle.

This beauty was a prize I was lucky
enough to win from the
One World One Heart giveaway!
Who is the artist, you ask?
Well, it is Connie, of course!

Isn't this adorable?

Connie also sent me this tag!
Look at the vintage jewels in the middle!

You know Connie, don't you?
She is from Nebraska!

And look at this charming tag she made!

Thank you so much, Connie!

You have got to go check out her blog,

By the way,
Connie just made a junking trip to Texas!

Waiting patiently for me in a big box
was another gift I won from
One World One Heart!

Meet Alistair Iriekins...
my new art studio "mascot"...
security guard...
guardian angel...
art muse!

No, I didn't name him...
he was "born" with the name!
He was created by Waxela
at Spirit Mama Art in Austin...
and I love him!

Anyone who truly knows me,
understands that Alistair
fits right in at my studio!

Waxela also sent me this magnificent magnet...
another creation of Spirit Mama Art!
Look at that face!
Isn't she marvelous?

Unfortunately, Spirit Mama Art
is leaving Austin...
(big sigh).
The good news is that you can find Waxela's
unique art dolls and sock monkey cake toppers
at her Etsy shop HERE.

Yes, you heard me...
sock monkey cake toppers!
They are precious!

You also need to go check out
Waxela's amazing blog,

Thank you, Waxela!

Last, but certainly not least,
is this wonderful goody I received
from my BFF, Sue!

You've heard that good things
come in small packages?
Well, it did!
It was a good thing!
I guarantee you that it didn't take
me long to get this thing of beauty
around my neck!

Check it out...
it says it all, doesn't it?

Sue, girlfriend...
you rock...
and I roll...
so together...
we are a force to be reckoned with!

If you don't follow Sue's blog,
shame on you!
should be on your daily reading list!
Did I mention that her photos from

Day 68...Wacky Wednesday, The Never-Ending Story...

It is Wednesday...
and I am feeling wacky...

so...

Let's write the...
Never-Ending Story!

Directions/Instructions/How To:

1. I will post a picture and then begin a story
with 3 to 6 sentences...

2. Then I will stop in MID-SENTENCE...

3. The next person picks up (in MID-SENTENCE)
where the last comment left off and will then
add 3 to 6 sentences to continue the story...

4. And then he/she/it will stop in MID-SENTENCE.

5. Don't end the story...
it is a never-ending story!

6. You may post as many comments as you want
to continue the story!

Let's Write!
It all started out as a dream. We read about it in Just Practicing Random Acts of Kindness for years. We saw Sue's pictures. We drooled and dreamed of going to Country Roads Antiques and Gardens in Old Towne Orange in Long Beach. Sue tempted us and taunted us and drew us in with her magic spell. Eventually our dreams turned into a road trip with a car full of Texas junkers and a picnic basket full of pimento cheese sandwiches and a cooler full of beer. Upon arriving in Long Beach...

Day 62...Every Picture Tells A Story

I love photos that tell stories.

This photo taken on a
Louisiana street corner
in the 40's makes my
imagination run wild!
The lady crossing the street...
what is her story?
Is she a secretary
taking a break?
Is she just leaving the man
on the corner after a romantic
rendezvous at a downtown hotel?
Is she a housewife
with a shopping list in hand?

The man on the corner...
what is his story?
Is he wanting her to turn around
and look at him just once more?
Is he paranoid because a
photographer is snapping his picture?
Does he see his wife crossing the street
and unknowingly passing his lover?

The man in the wheelchair...
what is his story?
Is he just returning from the
hospital with his belongings in his hands?
In the days before handicap access,
does he have someone with him to
help him move around the city?
Is that a hat in his hand and is he
begging to exist on the street?

The two women who are walking
and chatting...
what is their story?
Are they talking about a man?
Are they heading to the Vogue
Shop for their annual sale?
Are they in the city on a girls' day out?

The woman waiting on the corner
who is looking at the camera...
what is her story?
Is she waiting for her tardy
husband to pick her up?
What is the mystery purchase in
that shopping bag?
Why is she the only person with
an umbrella? Is it to protect from the rain
or the sun?

The woman and little girl...
what is their story?
Is the woman a nurse or a mom
with a "fashionable" hat?
Is the little girl asking the woman
if they can stop for an ice cream?
Is the parcel in the little girl's hands
a special gift for her father?
(Do you remember when they
wrapped packages like that? Sigh.)

The woman in the store door...
what is her story?
Is she late and going to miss her bus?
Had she just rushed into the store
to use the pay phone to call
her husband to tell him
that she was leaving him?
Did she just have lunch at
the Woolworth's counter?

Every picture tells a story.
What is your story?
