Day 58...Thanks For Playing!

Thanks for playing in the
"We Are Home" Giveaway!
As promised,
participating names were placed
in a hospital urinal
for Lurch to draw.

Here is Lurch's hand...
here is the urinal.

Looks like Lurch's hand
will not fit in the urinal!

Lurch gets some kitchen "tweezers"
to reach the winning name...
until our son told us to quit
using his kitchen utensils in the urinal!

So Lurch took the names out
and shuffled them again...
then placed them back in
the urinal!

Lurch got creative and used
purple straws to pick the winning name!

Oh, look!
The winner is:

Congratulations!
Please email me with your
mailing address!
Your copy of
Flea Market Style is ready
to put in the mail!

How about the rest of you
going to check out

I love making new friends!

Day 57...The Lurch Parade!

Yes, it is true.
Houston held a parade today...
for Lurch and me!

No, I'm not kidding!

All the revelers were dressed in
their finest sequins and lame!

Why did they have a parade
in our honor?

They were celebrating that we
finally got to have a shower!

They carried banners that said:
MALISA WASHED HER HAIR!

It was marvelous!
There was ticker tape...
confetti...
glitter...
and mini bottles of shampoo
flying through the air!

Parade participants were
throwing bars of soap
from the floats!

Women were flashing their bare chests
and screaming:
THROW ME SOME DOVE, MISTER!

It was fantabulous!

Ah, yes...
it is so good to be home.

Don't forget that I am having
a celebratory giveaway.
The prize: a copy of
Flea Market Style.

Yep, all you have to do to enter
is leave the words
"GIMME THAT"
in your comment!

Lurch will be drawing names
from a urinal tomorrow at noon.
You heard me!
Nothing should surprise
you anymore!

After all,
how many people do you know
who have parades in their honor?

Day 56...A We Are Home Giveaway!

Have I mentioned that we got
out of the hospital today?

Well, we did!

10 days in the hospital is a long time!

In celebration of our "parole",
I am giving away a copy of
Flea Market Style!
Yep, all you have to do to enter
is leave the words
"GIMME THAT"
in your comment!

Lurch will be drawing names
Sunday at noon.
Guess what?
He is drawing names out
of a little sumpin' he brought
home from the hospital!
I ain't kiddin'!
Yes, I will post photos
of him drawing the name!

Why was Lurch in the hospital
so long, you ask?
It may be that I asked the doctors...
a few too many questions!

"Are you sure that goes there?"

"Don't you think it would work
better if you twisted that thingy
there around that thingy
over there?"

"How about whacking that
thang off right there?"

Anyway, Lurch came home in one piece!
Last year, he got a zipper (stitches)
down the front...
and now he got a zipper
down the back!

You know who else is having
a giveaway?
You probably don't want to
check out the big box of
vintage goodies she is giving away.
Nope.
You probably don't.
Why?
Because I'm gonna win...
that's why!
If you go leave a comment
on her blog giveaway,
you might win...
and I want to win!
Whatever...
go check it out
But it is a waste of time...
cause I am winning!

Have I mentioned that it is
so good to be home?
It is!

Day 55...Part Two...The Saga Continues!

Yesterday, the cardiologist,
the doctor making the call,
told us we would go home today.
We were ready...
bags packed...
sitting on the edge of the bed...
for hours!
We had cancelled our meals
with the cafeteria...
had our life savings ready
to pay for the remainder of parking fees...
waiting patiently for
the cardiologist.

When he finally showed up,
it was GOOD NEWS...
we were going home!

Yeah, baby...
a soft mattress tonight...
no interruptions every five minutes
to check vitals...
no intercom blaring all night...
no more tubes, needles or beeping monitors!

I am telling you that
we were "on point"...
headed in the direction of the exit!
Then...
the newest doctor on the team said...
"NOT SO FAST"!
At 3:00 we were told
"MAYBE TOMORROW"

I think Lurch said it best...

Day 55...Part One...Happy Birthday, Madisyn!

Oh, my gosh!
I got a photo to load
at the hospital!
It hasn't allowed me to load one yet!
And what a better one to load
than this photo taken of Madisyn today...
on her 7th birthday!

She is such a beauty
and I am so proud of her...
because she is so sweet...
because she is so well mannered...
because she is so kind...
because she is such a good student...
because she is such a good big sister...
because she is the BEST granddaughter ever..
because she is MADISYN!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
MADISYN!

We love you so much!

Day 54..."Vacation" Highlights!

Some of our vacation highlights
during our stay here at
La Mansion de Enema...

The night Lurch was in
the bathtub with 14 nurses!
No, he was not taking a bath...
nor did he intend to be in the tub...
but he fell into the tub
and was soon fussed over by
no less than 14 nurses!
That man will do anything
for attention!

My daily visits to the
hospital's own McDonalds!
Does anyone but me think
that it is ironic that the world's
leading heart hospital
has a McDonald's?

My award winning
Olympic performance
in the surgery waiting room!
I was nervous...
and anxious...
and a wee bit clumsy
when the surgeon came to talk
to me after the surgery.
Maybe, just maybe,
I tripped over my flip flop
and ended up tackling the
Coke machine to stop my
catapult through the air!
The Russian judge gave
me a 7!

The hidden camera video
of the joke that valet parking
played on me when they
brought me the wrong car...
and then they insisted it was mine...
like I can't tell my black SUV
from a silver compact sedan!
And then I found out that
it wasn't a joke.
Yes, they lost my car!
Three cars later
and me wrestling them
to the ground to get to
the car key board,
finally resulted in me
getting the bat mobile back!
And I can't even speak the
total of the parking bill
aloud...too profane!

I have heard rumor that
our credit card has been declined
so they may send us packing
tomorrow.
Who knows...
they may just be pulling
another fast one on me!

Day 53...Evidently She Can't Feel It!

Remember my story last night?
The one about Buddy...
you know...

"He can feel it, CC! It's (the rain) coming!"

Then you remember how I
got all cocky?
You know...
when I said...

"She can feel it, people!
He (Lurch) is coming home!"

Remember that?

Yeah, I thought you would.

So, let's back up.

Remember when I told you
that Buddy wasn't the
sharpest knife in the drawer?

Yeah.
Seems like Buddy and I
have that in common.

We are still here.
Sitting in the hospital...
still taking those baby steps.

Evidently, she can't feel it!

Day 52...I Can Feel It!

"I can feel it, people!
Can't you just feel it?"

I have had the honor
of directing several student ensembles
in the performance of
The Diviners
by Jim Leonard Jr.

One of the main characters is
Buddy, a young boy, who lost his mother to the river,
and almost lost his own young life to the river and
as a result becomes brain damaged
and acquires the rare talent of finding water.
Buddy is a diviner.

C.C. is a wayward preacher who becomes
Buddy's friend and mentor.

Although no one else knows that rain
is coming, Buddy can sense it...he can feel it...
he knows it every single time.
Buddy suffers with the knowledge because
he is scared of water...
scared of death...
scared of the unknown.

When Buddy's senses alerted him that
rain was coming, he would say,

(Buddy referred to himself in the third person, he)

"He can feel it, C.C. It's coming! He feels it!
Can't you just feel it , C. C.? He can feel it!

Well, that is the way I feel right now.

"She can feel it, people! It's coming!
Can't you just feel it, people? She can feel it!

So if everything goes well tonight,
I have the feeling that I will be taking
Lurch home late tomorrow!

Why do I think this?

"Because she can feeeel it, people!
He's coming home!"

Day 51...Singing Praises!

Oh give thanks
to the Lord;
call upon his name;
make known his deeds
among the peoples!

Sing to him,
sing praises to him;
tell of all his
wondrous works!
--Psalm 105:1-2--

On this beautiful Sunday morning,
I am going to tell you of
his wondrous works...

kidneys functioning
and improving...

blood pressure up
to normal level...

pain improving...

a team of doctors
who will continue to work
with Lurch after
he is stabilized
and out of the hospital
(probably a few more days)

Today is a good day!
Of course, every day is
a good day!

Thank you, Sweet Jesus!

Day 50...Read Between The Lines!

I hate to say it
out loud...

don't want to
speak prematurely...

or press our luck...

BUT...

I think I am seeing progress.

I didn't hear
anything...
did you?

Day 50...Looks Like Detention!

No fun at the hacienda
this weekend
for Lurch!

Nope.
Neurosurgery gave him a passing grade,
but the following teachers
are retaining him
for extra work:

Cardiologist

Renal Specialist

Internal Medicine

Kind of like detention, tutorials,
and after school study hall
all rolled into one!

As with all progress,
you gotta take the good
with the bad!

Baby steps...
tiny baby steps...
we will get there!

"Problems are the price
of progress. Don't bring
me anything but trouble.
Good news weakens me."
--Charles F. Kettering--

Isn't that a positive way
to look at the negative?

Today, when the chaplain came
to visit, he asked if we needed
anyone to say prayers for us.
It was so comforting to say
that I have a blogging world full
of prayers that are going up
in our names!
When he left the room,
he told me that my comment
had made his day.

And you, my friends,
make my day!
